Terrain generation

Terrain generation - the shapes in a terrain could relate to the current texture set.
The rules for the terrain generation would be specific to a particular background or family of background types. The backgrounds could be tagged with one or a combination of flags including rocky, blocky, hilly, mountainous, precipitous, smooth and bumpy. The terrain generation would respond accordingly, so the forms in the background and terrain texture would be reflected in the (initial) topography.

Further to this...

ideas for procedurally generated terrain shapes to accompany each texture set. This would make each environment feel like an individual map or level rather than just another backdrop.
