Score and score increments and modifiers shown in-game

Display your current overall score, or perhaps just the score for this game, somewhere in the corner of the game screen. Every time you make a hit, the score increments and a little (+25) or similar flashes up alongside to show you what you just got. I understand there are certain score modifiers - such as hitting the current leader - might be nice to show these alongside, so the score would look like: 1428 [+56 (2x leader bonus)]
with the brackety bit flashing up in red briefly and fading out.
